I believe I have always had the Entrepreneurial Spirit. I started my first business at the age of 20, selling Mary Kay Cosmetics. I loved the mission of the company and the many wonderful women that I encountered through the business. Navigating my way through life, I eventually relocated and took on full time employment.
Soon enough, I started a family and continued dreaming about my future business ventures. I kept busy with appointments and other mommy duties. With two children who had several medical issues, it was clear that I would not be able to hold traditional employment. As grateful as I was that I had this time with my children, I’m career driven and I wanted more.
Once both girls were in school, I accepted a position as a non-profit executive director working flexible hours around my children and their needs. I also returned to school which was a great complement to my new position. In 2008 I was laid off and I was devastated.
These life experiences, both good and bad, have made me the person that I am today. It took time to mourn the loss of my job and remember that things truly do happen for a reason. I began freelance work and completed my degree, graduating with honors in June 2010.
Taking what I have learned through these experiences, I decided it was time to venture out on my own. I launched Strategic Growth & Development, where we help small business owners manage their day to day. I wanted to use my knowledge and experience to help others realize their own dreams and take their business to the next level.
